এর নাম সম্ভবত হয়েছে সুন্দরী গাছের নাম থেকে। এটি অন্যান্য ম্যানগ্রোভ জঙ্গলের থেকে বেশি বৈচিত্র্যপূর্ণ ।
এর জলা জঙ্গলে যে ১০০টিরও বেশি প্রজাতির গাছ জন্মায় তার মধ্যে অন্তত ২৮টি প্রকৃত ম্যানগ্রোভ।
